 Golden Jubilee of Government Dental College & Research Institute Bangalore, Alumni Association Celebrated 'AMBARA" State level intercollegiate cultural festival from 18th to 20th September 2008.

The event took off on a grand scale at the R. V. Dental College campus and auditorium. The chief guest for the day Dr. S. Ramanand Shetty honorable vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences was given a grand traditional welcome by the staff and students of our college .The traditional Poorna Khumba Swagatha was given to him all dressed up for the parade and depicted the culture from their region.

The G D C Alumni president Dr. S. Jagdish also suggested to the Vice Chancellor that there should be an inclusion criteria for students based on not just sports quota but also a new cultural quota . Rajyotsava Awardee and Principal of RVDC also spoke and also sang the NADAGEETE along with his staff members at the function. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.C.N.Shastry. Organizing secretary for the golden jubilee celebrations.

The inauguration was followed by very exquisite dances by the third year students and interns of GDC & RI Bangalore. The inauguration was followed by the prelims of many, on stage and offstage events. The finals for the antakshri as well as group song were also conducted at the RVDC auditorium. The first day of the event showed an overwhelming response from the 15 participating colleges and their teams. The second day (19th September) of Ambara state level cultural fest started off in GDC & RI with us pledging to do our part for the environment and the dress code was green in colour. We started the day with planting trees. Trees were donated to us by the Trees for Free organization and they were planted in the GDCRI campus by the senior members of the alumni VANAMOHOTSAVA. The competitions such as rangoli, mad ads , vegetable carving, Collage, Creative painting, Flower arrangement etc., showed great response by the students. The evening played hot to the fashion show with a theme. The fashion show was off to a rocking start by GDCRI's own rock band PRALAY.

The third day (20th September) was started with a brain teaser for the participants. The quiz was hosted by popular TV host Dr Someshwar and he conducted a brilliant program and finding innovative ways to enthrall the audience. The quiz was followed by an awesome dance competition which showed an over whelming response by the students with 21 solo and 10 group participant. The show was hosted by MC Abhiram. The dance competition was followed by the Valedictory function for which S. Shivram actor, director, producer was the Chief Guest. The chief guest spoke of the importance of nurturing ones talents and congratulated all the participants and said this is the first step towards greater heights and wished us all good luck for the future. The entire event came to a grand close with the DJ Nite which showed great attendance by the students and alumni members where D J Sandy and MC Abhiram rocked the show.
